East Los Angeles College Community Services is committed to protecting your personal information. Digital services used by our department are subject to review and approval by Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Information Technology. We follow this process before implementing digital services as part of our efforts to protect student information and support secure registration and payment processing. Credit card payments are processed through a secure payment gateway. Our registration system does not retain full credit card numbers; only limited information is retained to identify transactions. We may use the contact information provided in your student profile to communicate about your classes, schedule changes, promotional updates, and new Community Services offerings. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. Refund requests may be granted ONLY if you notify the Community Services Department AT LEAST 5 DAYS prior to the first class. There are no refunds after this date or after the class begins. There is a $10 service charge per class for each refund requested. All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing. Failure to attend class does not warrant consideration for a refund.
Student Absences Refunds are not issued for classes or meetings missed by a student. Making up a missed meeting at a different time or in a future class session is not permitted. Students experiencing extraordinary circumstances may contact the Community Services Manager to request consideration. If approved, an electronic voucher will be issued, less the applicable processing fee. Approval is at the Manager’s discretion. Electronic Voucher Amounts For an approved voucher covering a single meeting or remaining meetings, the voucher amount will equal the value of the meeting or meetings covered. The applicable processing fee will be deducted for approved student-absence exceptions. Electronic vouchers typically expire 365 days after they are issued. Vouchers are applied at checkout. Nonrefundable Fees and Items Materials fees, materials issued in class, lap swim cards, and parking permits are nonrefundable. Materials issued in class, lap swim cards, and parking permits will not be replaced if lost. To transfer to another class within the same catalog, requests must be received AT LEAST 5 DAYS before the first class. There is a $10 service charge for each transfer requested. There are no transfers after this date or after the class begins.
A $10 Returned Check Charge is assessed for each check returned to the ELAC Business Office unpaid by the bank for any reason. A stop payment order on a check does not constitute an official withdrawal nor does it relieve the student’s financial obligation for a class. Please follow the refund policy procedures to avoid additional charges.
The Community Services Department reserves the right to cancel classes because of insufficient enrollment. If ELAC cancels all meetings before the first class meeting, students will receive a full refund without a processing fee. These cancellations typically occur because of insufficient enrollment. Every attempt will be made to contact affected students.
Meetings Canceled by ELAC If ELAC cancels a class meeting, the meeting will be rescheduled for the next available date consistent with the class’s established schedule. When rescheduling is deemed not possible, ELAC may elect to issue an electronic voucher in place of the canceled meeting or remaining meetings. Credit card transactions will be refunded to the same credit card used at the time of registration. Cash and check transactions will be refunded with a check in the mail. Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing. Student can also request account credit, valid for a year for future registrations, in lieu of a refund.
Room numbers are provided on class confirmations. If you register online, your confirmation will be e-mailed to you. If you register by phone, the confirmation is mailed to your mailing address. Confirmations are given in person for walk-ins.
A parking permit is required to park in any student parking lot at East Los Angeles College Main Campus.
For our semesters you may pay the parking fee of $10 and obtain a parking permit from the Community Services Office. You can also purchase a parking permit online by registering for the class "Parking Permit". After registering for this class please contact our office to request a parking permit to be mailed to you. If the registration happens within a week of the starting date for the class, the student is responsible for picking up the permit from the Community Services Office. For more information you may contact them at (323) 265-8800. Lost or stolen permits cannot be replaced.
One-day parking permits can also be purchased for $2.00 from the permit dispensing machines or the Sheriff's station.

Lap Swimming – Independent Fitness & Exercise
Enjoy swimming at your own pace with ELAC Community Services Lap Swimming! Whether you're maintaining a fitness routine, training for a personal goal, or simply enjoying the health benefits of swimming, our lap swimming program provides an opportunity for independent aquatic exercise in a supervised pool environment.
Lap swimming is intended for participants who can swim independently and safely in designated lap lanes. Swimmers may complete their own workouts at a comfortable pace while sharing the pool with others.
This is a noninstructional activity. Swim lessons, coaching, and individualized supervision are not provided.
Important: Lap swimming is only available during designated hours when ELAC Community Services aquatic classes are actively in session. Pool access is subject to availability, staffing, and operational needs.
Lap Swimming Rules & Participation Policy
Swimmer Eligibility
Lap swimming is intended for individuals who can swim independently and safely. Participants must be comfortable swimming in water over their heads without flotation assistance. Lap swimming is not appropriate for individuals who require swim instruction or one-on-one supervision.
Lap Swim Passes and Admission
- A valid lap swim pass or approved admission is required before entering the pool.
- Each visit deducts one admission from the participant's pass, regardless of the length of the swim.
- Lap swim passes are issued to one individual and may only be used by that individual. Passes may not be shared, transferred, or used to admit another person.
- Unused visits have no cash value.
- Lost passes will not be replaced.
Refunds and Expiration
- Lap swim passes are nonrefundable once purchased.
- Unused visits are not eligible for cash refunds or electronic vouchers.
- Passes remain valid for six (6) months from the date of purchase. The expiration period must be disclosed before purchase.
- ELAC Community Services may extend passes when significant facility closures prevent reasonable opportunities for use, at its discretion.
Pool Access and Lane Sharing
- Lap swim passes may only be used when ELAC Community Services aquatic classes are scheduled and actively in session.
- Passes do not provide access to the pool outside these periods, even if the facility is otherwise open.
- Swimming is permitted only during designated lap swimming hours.
- Lap lanes are shared spaces; exclusive lane use is not guaranteed.
- Community Services instructional classes take priority over lap swimming.
- Swimmers must follow posted lane assignments and circle-swimming etiquette when required.
- Participants should select lanes appropriate to their swimming speed.
- Pool capacity and lane availability may be limited.
Safety and Conduct
- All participants must follow lifeguard or Aquatics staff instructions and posted pool safety rules.
- Running, diving in unauthorized areas, horseplay, and unsafe behavior are prohibited.
- Appropriate swimwear is required.
- Participants must not enter the pool when experiencing symptoms of a communicable illness.
- Lifeguards or Aquatics staff may restrict participation or remove swimmers for unsafe conduct.
Pool Closures and Schedule Changes
Lap swimming availability is determined by the ELAC Community Services aquatic class schedule and is subject to change due to maintenance, water quality, staffing, weather, campus events, class cancellations, or other operational needs.
ELAC Community Services reserves the right to temporarily close the pool or adjust lap swimming availability without advance notice when necessary.
Pass holders will not be charged a visit when the pool is closed before admission. Pool closures do not automatically qualify participants for refunds.
Acknowledgment
By purchasing or using a lap swim pass, participants acknowledge that lap swimming is an independent physical activity and agree to follow all applicable pool rules, safety instructions, and ELAC Community Services policies.
